Axiom Consulting
Below is a sample of my work at Axiom. Axiom provided packaging contractor services to P&G, as well as local Cincinnati small businesses and startups. Much of my work here is upstream and providing conceptual packaging options.
Packaging Concepts
Beluga Shave
Since Beluga promised retro styling in a high-quality modern razor for the discerning man, I designed a package that combined minimalist branding with premium, heavier materials (soft-touch paperboard).
AVA Yoga
The client designed yoga gloves and socks that have straps attached (L). Axiom and I assisted in creating a simple pillow tuck package (M) with a cutout of the AVA logo. The simulated drop shadow version of the logo is the final logo on the package (R).
Skincare Concepts
Working with the Axiom graphic designer, we brainstormed several types of packaging scenarios for a beauty skincare pump and patch project. The left panel demonstrated the different patch packaging, while the right panel shows our concepts for the secondary packaging housing both the patches and the pump.
Additional Skincare Pump + Patch Packaging Prototype
Here is a later packaging concept for the same skincare pump and patch project. I was asked to take a more expensive package design and translate it to lower cost design, while still maintaining design intent and function.
Store Display
The packaging contains a thermoform insert, carton, and plastic window to show the product on the store shelves. The height is higher than when the box is folded up at home, to emphasize shelf presence.
At Home Box
When the consumer brings home the product, they can take out the plastic window. What’s left is the carton and insert, which allows for the packaging to be used for storage purposes.
Closed Ringbox
The carton design take its cues from a “ringbox” concept. Once the plastic window is out, the carton shortens in height to take up less space in the consumer’s home.
Makeup Device Conceptual Prototype
In this project that involved injection molding, heat seals, and carton packaging, I was asked to take a higher cost package design and re-imagine a lower cost design. The left two pictures (not my design- the higher cost option) show a design that required greater assembly time and higher material costs versus the right two pictures which show my design using lower material costs and shorter assembly time.
